what it is:
The Delta Campus project is a trailblazing endeavor by Living Buildings that aims to pioneer regenerative building practices. It represents a significant step forward in our mission to create a world that thrives in harmony with nature, upholding the principles of solar energy reliance, minimal extractive impact, and long-lasting generational solutions.
What we are doing:
This ambitious project is set to unfold in carefully planned phases, each building upon the success of the last. Initially, we focus on creating a conceptual and initial construction design, complete with cost and material estimations. Our team works diligently to establish relationships and foster interest in our internship program, inviting new team members to join our structured workforce. We delve into prototype testing for modern earth technology and robotics, simultaneously initiating our workforce development through introductory courses related to barn deconstruction, modern earth wall construction, and heating system installation.
Moving forward, we engage with architects to refine construction and design details, culminating in an in-depth construction schedule for an April kick-off. Our commitment to education continues as we shape the course outline for workforce development, seeking approval for funding.
The project’s pinnacle, Phase 3, sees the realization of a complete plan for the construction of House 1 on Lot 28, with scalability and the development of the entire Delta Campus in mind. Permitting, cost-effectiveness, team and workforce development, and funding opportunities are all addressed to drive down costs, while our technology advancements aim to make the construction process less reliant on skilled labor.
The Delta Campus project encapsulates our commitment to catalytic change, promising to be a shining example of regenerative living, offering essentials such as food, water, and shelter, while championing efficient use of resources, minimal environmental impact, and the creation of long-lasting solutions for future generations.
